Could it be that Michael Schumacher is planning on returning to Ferrari in a role similar to that of Ross Brawn? German magazine Auto Motor und Sport has apparently reported that the ex-Ferrari driver has had all the test data sent to him each day this year.
Meanwhile ITV have reported that Schumacher has been offered a NASCAR test by team owner Ray Evernham. I don’t think there is much Ray could do to entice Schumacher to the NASCAR scene, but the first part of his quote was gold:
“I’ll put him in a red car, a real good car…”
Reigning German F3 Champion Ho-Pin Tung is hoping to land a test driver role with a Formula One team soon. His efforts have gone unrewarded so far, with the Spyker F1 team all but ruling him out of testing this year due to their already-large cashed up test-drive line-up.
We’re all Ho-Pin you get a break soon! Â (/bad jokes off now..)
If Fernando Alonso and Felipe Massa’s comments are anything to go by then BMW Sauber will be the team to beat in Formula One in 2007. It seems they speak the truth when you look at the lap times.
However pre-season testing rarely reveals which teams are really fast. McLaren and Ferrari have a tradition of ’sandbagging’ in testing.
Alonso’s comments are even more interesting.. He believes McLaren is running out of time to develop the car before the first race of the year in Melbourne. McLaren certainly do seem to start the season slow with the exception of some years (such as the late 90s).
Alonso also doesn’t believe Honda are going as well as they say they are. Based on how they’ve talked up previous seasons, you’d have to believe him again here.
The only team who almost certainly will make a huge improvement from last year is Williams. After all, they can’t do much worse can they?
On the day of the launch of Spyker’s 2007 F1 car, an interesting photo has emerged. Although the source of the photo is unconfirmed, it may well be a shot of the 2007 Spyker being tested at a private location.
There are some radical changes to the car including a dual-independent steering system, a new large gearshift design and an interesting method of attaching the roll-hoop to the front of the car… Read More »
