F1: White is the new Black

{ Posted on Mar 19 2007 by dScribe }

I really think the F1 teams can do better when it comes to designing their driver racing suits..

2007 F1 Drivers

Not even McLaren pass the test this year (and they are the team when it comes to style). Their car looks great, but their uniforms have been shocking ever since that ugly pinky-red gradient shirt last year.. :P

Seriously guys, inject some colour into the field! And no, I don’t mean red.. that’s used almost as much as white… 8)

Melbourne: Heikki to Retire?

{ Posted on Mar 18 2007 by dScribe }

The first race of the season has been run, and once again we have the main points of interest for you…

Heikki Kovalainen – After his performance at the Melbourne GP, there are rumours he is set to retire from F1 to start his own lawn mowing business.. ;)

Kimi Raikkonen – Brilliant performance. One slight driving error but otherwise fantastically fast.

Lewis Hamilton – Really nice to see a driver so happy on the podium and in the post-race press conference. Possibly the drive of the day.

Fernando Alonso – Worked his magic once again to get ahead of his teammate and finish in 2nd. Can’t decide whether Fernando, Lewis or Kimi deserves man of the race as they all were super! :)

Nico Rosberg – There has been so little talk about Nico this year that I forgot he was in F1… then bam! 7th place! Well done :)

Nick Heidfeld – Similar story to Nico here.. Made a great start to the race then never heard a peep from him… and bam! 4th place! B)

Felipe Massa – Really should have got past Fisichella.. maybe even Heidfeld. How many times have we seen Raikkonen or Alonso start and the back and make it to the podium?

Jenson Button – WTF?

Honda – WTF?

David Coulthard – No longer has Michael Schumacher to run into so took it out on Alexander Wurz.. ;)

Sneaky Super Aguri?

{ Posted on Mar 17 2007 by dScribe }

Well, there were no real big surprises with qualifying in Melbourne today with the exception of Felipe Massa’s troubles. Maybe he hasn’t been wearing his old old lucky underwear? :)

Ferrari and McLaren look by far the quickest, with BMW next. After that, everyone else look as slow as each other.

The big improvers were Super Aguri. But even that wasn’t much of a surprise given talk that their chassis is largely based on that used by the Honda F1 team last year. The latest speculation is that Williams and Spyker are going to protest against the legality of the chassis of Super Aguri, Red Bull Racing and Squadro Toro Rosso.

I wonder if Super Aguri delayed the launch of their car until this week so that other teams wouldn’t have time to analyse their chassis to see exactly how similar it is to last years Honda? If so, very sneaky.. But it could just be that they were late in their manufacturing.. right? ;) Read More »

Funny: Mark Webber Just Misses Pole

Shame it wasn’t pole position on the track! ;)

Mark Webber Almost Grabs Pole

Melbourne: Alonso was Heavy in Practice

{ Posted on Mar 16 2007 by dScribe }

Ok, after the Tamara Ecclestone photos we though we better actually cover some of the on-track action in Melbourne today.. :)

The first gem of information we got from Ron Dennis was that Fernando Alonso was running heavy fuel loads toward the end of practice – thus the reason for his fall from a dominant pace. With that said, Ferrari still look to be slightly ahead, but not by too much.

Here are some other notable items..

Honda Livery – Looks rubbish on track as expected! Well, it’s ok if you want to look like a Mild Seven Benetton when Schumacher was there.. :P

Christijan Albers – Man, did this guy lose the plot or what? Not only did he do more lawn mowing than driving, but he was very lucky not to hit anyone. If it was actually a race and not practice he would have looked like a star :)

Lewis Hamilton – Great start. Great car. What more can be said?

Jenson Button – Dude, even Anthony Davidson will probably beat you in this race.. Honda should spend less money on their paintwork and more on their car development.

Super Aguri – Fantastic start for the team courtesy of Honda 2006 :)

Mark Webber – He might be good if his cars didn’t keep breaking down (or maybe it’s how he drives them)?

Williams – Fairly good start and will probably beat Toyota come race day.
