Heikki Kovalainen No Go for Renault 2007
Renault have almost completely ruled out the possibility of Heikki Kovalainen racing for the team in 2007 by saying “To have a driver without experience like him would be a risk. In the current Formula 1 series you need fast results and that can be a problem for a newcomer.”
The most likely situation is that Heikki will end up driving one of the Red Bull Racing or Toro Rosso vehicles – powered by a Renault engine.
It is no secret that Renault are trying all they can to get McLaren driver Kimi Raikkonen to sign a multi-year deal starting in 2007 – possibly extending until 2010. What if they can’t get the Flying Finn? The most obvious candidate is Mark Webber who is managed by Renault team principal Flavio Briatore but currently racing for Williams. But what if that doesn’t eventuate either?
Who would you like to see drive for Renault in 2007?
