What the Frank!? Money talks at Williams
I don’t think the Williams F1 team would be strapped for cash, but you’d think they were based on their recent actions..
First they made some big dollars ’selling’ Jenson Button. ie. allowing him to weasel out of his contract – albeit making nice $$ in the process – good move on the part of Williams IMHO. Now they’ve sold off some of their most prized memorabilia. The collectibles included Nigel Mansell’s 1992 Championship winning car and the damaged front wishbone from Damon Hill’s 1994 Adelaide car (you know, the race where Michael Schumacher punted him off ).
Even worse, Williams may now be putting Narain Karthikeyan in a test seat for the team. Money now talks at Williams, whereas in the past they’ve been totally the opposite. It seems the loss of BMW and HP is really hurting them. But hey, with the money will come new developments and I think the Cosworth is going to be quite surprising(ly good) in 2006..
