Nice fashion Jacques. A pink t-shirt and those funky glasses!!

I found this photo in a book called ‘I Love F.1′ by Pino Allievi and Ercole Colombo. It looks like it’s a Fondmetal production of some sort. One of the most prophetic pages is titled A would-be champion confused in the paddock. Quite a big call considering the book was published in 1987..

In the paddock a young sulky-looking boy wanders amongst the crowd. He looks seriously at the cars, examining them as if he had to drive them. There’s something familiar about his face. It’s Jacques Villeneuve, the 16 year-old son of the great Gilles. He has just started to race in Formula Ford. He wants to follow in his father’s footsteps. “Aren’t you afraid?” I ask Joanna Villeneuve. “Yes” she replies, “but what can I do about it?”
